Thane city Congress wants to snap ties with NCP

Thane, Sep 9 (UNI) Thane city Congress president Bal Purnekar has urged state party chief to snap ties with the Nationalist Congress Party.

According to sources, Mr Purnekar has rushed a letter to Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Prabha Rau urging that the Congress should not have any truck or understanding with the NCP.

In his letter, Mr Purnekar has said that this was the desire of the local Congress activists.

Accusing the NCP of back-stabbing the Congress at every stage, Mr Purnekar in his letter to the party chief cited the example of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation where the Congress, despite having the largest number of elected members, could not get the mayoral post.
