Panchaloha idols stolen from temple, watchman killed

Chennai, Sep 9 (UNI) An unidentified gang murdered a watchman of a temple and decamped with five Panchaloha idols at Kottur in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu late last night.

Police said the incident came to light when Baskaran, an official of the Kolundeeswarar Temple, opened the temple this morning for daily prayers.

District SP Aneesha Hussain and DSP Ramakrishnan rushed to the spot.

Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were pressed into action, police said.
