Nokia enters partnership with Israeli cell operator

Mumbai, Sep 9 (UNI) Cellular phone major Nokia Siemens Networks has been selected by the largest cellular operator in Israel 'Cellcom Israel' as a partner to develop next genration network there.

Under this partnership, the new system will allow Cellcom Israel to offer its subscribers a fixed-mobile convergence experience, where subscribers in Israel can enjoy the same innovative services with either fixed or mobile access, the company said in a statement here today.

It further said the deal marks the first fixed network project for Nokia Siemens Networks in Israel, under which a core and broadband access network will be delivered to the Israeli partner.

Cellcom Israel with more than 2.9 million subscribers had recently acquired licenses for managing voice and data on a fixed line.
