Nitroglycerine used in Nellore blast: Police
Vellore (Tamil Nadu), Sep 9 (UNI) The landmine, targetting former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Janardhana Reddy and his wife near Nellore on September seven, purportedly contained nitroglycerine produced at the Tamil Nadu Explosives Limited at Katpadi, near here.
One of the ingredients of the landmine used by outlawed Maoists to trigger the blast, in which the Reddy couple had a narrow escape appeared to be nitroglycerine, police said.
Senior police officials suspect that the blast materials would have been diverted to the Maoists by some dealers, who normally supply explosive materials to stone quarries in the district.
Intensive checks were being carried out and dealers were being interrogated.
Meanwhile, police have intensified vehicle checks in the bordering areas of the two states, besides round-the-clock patrolling.
