MP govt awaiting IT Dept report on tainted official

Bhopal, Sep 9 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said action would be initiated against Director (Health) Yogiraj Sharma after a report was obtained from the Income Tax (IT) Department.

''The report has been sought and strict action will be taken,'' he told journalists here in response to a query.

Meanwhile, Sharma told UNI over telephone that he had been submitting IT returns since 1982.

''I informed the government whenever I purchased any property. An IT search began at my local residence on Friday morning and concluded early yesterday,'' he added.

When asked how many of his premises were raided and what was seized, Sharma said that the IT Department would be able to furnish the required details.
