Land survey to be completed by 2012 in AP
Hyderabad, Sep 9 (UNI) Stating that the Centre has extended support to the Andhra Pradesh Government to take up 'land survey' under the Integrated Land Information System (ILIS) as a pilot project in Nizamabad district last year, Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh today said the total land survey under ILIS would be completed by the end of 2012.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said another five districts-- Karimnagar, Srikakulam, Nellore Anantapur and Kadapa would be covered under the new scheme, where the land survey would be completed within two years.
Stating that the Centre had agreed to provide financial assistance to the Rs 1,550 crore project after AP government submitted its proposal, Mr Ramesh said the project was taken up by the state government to distribute 'conclusive land titles' to the land owners.
However, the government should introduce a Bill in the Assembly to give legal sanctity to the conclusive titles before their distribution, he added.
The main benefit of the 'conclusive titles' was improvement of the land management system in the state.
