4 militants killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 9: Security forces killed four militants in a fierce encounter in Machil sector in Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

A joint operation was launched by troops and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Nathal Nar, in Machil sector, in north Kashmir district of Kupwara early this morning, sources said.

However, the militants opened fire when the troops were sealing the area.

The troops retaliated and shot down four militants.

Four AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

The operation is still going on in the area, they said.
