Exclusive cell to look into genuine complaints from students
Pudukkottai, Sep 9 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said an exclusive cell had been constituted to look into the genuine complaints from students about the non-sanctioning of educational loans by the banks for higher studies.
Addressing a press conference here today, he said till March 2007, education loan to the tune of Rs 14,200 crore had been sanctioned to 10 lakh students.
He said he would use his good office with the Tamil Nadu government to see the early establishment of a tourism office at Pudukkottai, which was having a number of ancient temples and heritage centres including the rock-cut temples in Chittannavasal, Kudumiyanmalai and Tirumayam fort.
He said the establishment of a tourism office at Pudukkottai was a long pending demand of people of Pudukkottai.
The Minister refused to comment on the abolition of Pudukkottai Lok Sabha Constituency in the delimitation drive of the Election Commission.
