Bangalore, Sep 9 (UNI) The bitterly fought battle for the reigns of the managing committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association today witnessed a record polling with over 1100 members out of the total little over 1400 casting their votes in the quadrennial elections that went off peacefully today.

The results are expected later tonight.

In a crucial battle off the field, the group led by the last scion of Mysore family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar is challenging the group of incumbent Secretary and former test batsman Brijesh Patel.

With the tussle for supremacy reaching high octane level with the two groups making allegations and counter allegations against each other the conduct of elections was given to the Registrar of Co-operative societies. A group of officers from the department set up five booths at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the head quarters of the KSCA. The polling held from 1300 hrs to 1900 hrs was hectic but remained peaceful, a departmental official said.

While legendary cricketer G R Vishwanath was pitted against Mr Wadiyar, for President post, the scion has supported 'old war horse' G Kasturirangan to fight Brijesh, who is holding the Secretary post for over nine years.
