Doctors, Engineers among 11500 unemployed professionals in J&K
Srinagar, Sep 9 (UNI) As many as 255 doctors and 8092 engineers are among more than 11500 professionals unemployed in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
They said 183 unemployed doctors in the Kashmir valley are registered with the employment exchange while the number of such doctors in Jammu division was 72 in March 2007.
Interestingly, there was no unemployed doctors registered with the employment exchange in Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region.
But there were 8 unemployed engineers in Leh and 73 in Kargil district.
Baramulla in north Kashmir has the highest number of 67 unemployed doctors followed by 55 in Anantnag in south Kashmir while the lowest, one doctor is registered in the employment exchange at Kupwara.
Jammu district has highest 19 unemployed doctors followed by Doda 16 and lowest seven in Poonch.
Jammu division has 5179 unemployed engineers against 2913 in Kashmir valley, official figures available here said.
There is no physical education teacher, polytechnic, paramedical and irrigation patwaris registered with the employment exchange in the state, they said.
It said there are 258 agriculture graduates registered with the employment exchange in Kashmir valley while the number of such unemployed graduates in Jammu division was 281. Leh has no agriculture unemployed graduate while the Kargil district has eight.
There are 99 graduates in forestry waiting for their adjustment in the Kashmir valley while the number in Jammu region was 51.
Similarly, 1337 ITI trained, 1090 B ed and 100 M ed unemployed in the state.
In addition there are 209 ousted class 4th excise employees and 1692 contractual school lecturers in the state, the report said.
