Task Force's report on MBBS curriculum in next few months

Chennai, Sep 8 (UNI) The Task force on MBBS Curriculum, constituted by the Centre to suggest changes in the MBBS curriculum to make it globally approved, would submit its report in the next couple of months, Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said today.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Task force was constituted an year back to recommend changes in the MBBS curriculum to make it globally approved, rural based and social based.

One of the recommendations would be to cut short the duration of the MBBS course from five and half years to five years and also address the problems of the medicos, he said.

On the Parliamentary Standing Committee's recommendations prohibiting direct involvement of the ministry in the functioning of institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER, Dr Ramdoss said the Health ministry would constitute a committee to look into the recommendations.
