Salem Railway Division finalised: Velu

Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, Sep 8 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu today said the new Railway division at Salem had already been finalised and administratively, it has started functioning.

Talking to newspersons here, the Minister said the Union Government has already made some financial allocation for the new division.

The Minister also said the remaining work on gauge conversion in Tamil Nadu would be completed in a couple of years.

The Railway Board had approved electrification work between Tiruchirapalli and Villupuram and doubling work between Tiruchirapalli and Madurai.
