Puducherry Medical College to function from next year
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 8:The proposed Government Medical College at Puducherry would be functional from the next academic year, Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today said.
Addressing a press conference here, said the construction works of the Rs 150 crore, 750-bed hospital and medical college were progressing.
He said, the government would set up a government engineering college at Puducherry in the current academic year.
Referring to the expansion of Puducherry Airport, he said the works were in full swing.
Mr Rangasamy said, he had already made a personal request to his Tamil Nadu counterpart M Karunanidhi to allot 80 acres in Kottakuppam area of Tamil Nadu for the expansion of runways.
Answering a question, he said Rs 750 crore Karaikal Airport project was in the pipeline.
He also pointed out that efforts were on to sign a mutual agreement on improving the road transport between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
