Media awards announced in Kerala

Kozhikode, Sep 8: The Hindu Kozhikode Bureau Chief R Madhavan Nair and Senior Reporter Deepak Dharmadam of Amrita Television have been chosen for the fifth B V Abdulla Koya Memorial award for their outstanding contributions to the print and visual media respectively.

A committee comprising Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) General Secretary P K Kunhalikutty and Secretary M K Muneer selected them for the award instituted by B V Abdulla Koya Foundation, its convenor E T Mohammed Basheer told reporters here today.

The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 10,001, plaque and citation would be presented at a function here, date of which would be announced later, he said.

Justice V R Krishna Iyer, New Delhi-based journalist Sandeep Sardesai, Gandhian P Gopinathan Nair and P Damodaran of the Malayala Manorama were the earlier award winners.
