Lanka bound drug-food consignment flagged off

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 8 (UNI) Tamilar Desiya Iyakkam President P Nedumaran today flagged off the Jaffna-bound consignment of drugs and food worth Rs one crore for the 'suffering' Tamils in Sri Lanka, here today.

The consignment would reach Nagapattinam on September 11, after passing through Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai. The initiative was taken up by various Tamil organisations and Tamil Eelam Supporters' Coordination Committee.

They have planned to leave for Jaffna from Nagapttinam on September 12, defying police prohibitory orders, Mr Nedumaran added.
