IIT-G gets its own radio station

Guwahati, Sep 8: IIT-Guwahati will have its own radio station, inaugurated in the ninth edition of 'Techniche', the techno-management festival of IIT-G, from today.

With the participation of several outstation students, 'Techniche', which started yesterday, is leaping ahead with each passing year and becoming a popular platform for exchange of ideas, budding talents and intellectual growth amongst the student.

Much to the delight of students, the campus radio station, to be run for two hours thrice a week, promises not only to entertain but become an effective tool in communication amongst the campus residents.

''It will be streamed through a server and Local Area Network (LAN) and we will have a FM slot after a month,'' an organiser said adding that the receivers and transmitters were all built in the Electronics and Communication Engineering department by the students.

Among the games, 'Robotics' remains the crowd puller and fresher and outstation students were the most fascinated. Students from NIT, Bhopal and IT BHU (Varanasi), who learnt the ropes of 'Robotics' from workshops conducted by their seniors, admitted they were here because of it.
