Flood threat hovers over eastern UP
Gorakhpur, Sep 8 (UNI) A flood threat is once again hovering over several villages of Eastern Uttar Pradesh with the swelling of several rivers here.
Rapti in Gorakhpur was overflowing the danger mark by 38 cm here, while other rivers were swelling.
The rising water level of Gandhak river has damaged Chitauna enbankment of Kushinagar district and taken several villages in the effect, sources said.
Meanwhile, senior officials, including divisional commissioner Rajeev Kumar, DIG V L Meena, chief engineer Indrasen Ram, ditrict magitrate Amrita Soni have reached the spot.
