Chinese ship tilts dangerously near M'lore port

Mangalore, sep 8: The Chinese merchant ship 'Chang Le Men', which had capsized near the New Mangalore Port on Sep 8 had tilted 12 degrees on the seaside was still not rescued.

The ship continued to be in limbo for the entire thursday night (Sep 6), Friday (Sep 7) an Saturday (Sep 8). The ship has dangerously tilted but the 22 navigators are safe on board.

"The ship has tilted towards the sea, but there is no threat of capsizing", port officials had said on Sep 6.

A three-member experts team from Holland are monitoring the salavage mission. A chopper belonging to the coastal guards Goa division also has arrived and hovering over the ship in order to plunge into action in case of any eventuality.

According to port officials the ship with 29 crew on board ran aground in the Arabian sea, about seven nautical miles away from New Mangalore Port on Sep 8.
