BHEL plans phase-2 expansion
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 8 (UNI) The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will embark on the second phase of expansion, involving an investment of Rs 732 crore, BHEL executive director R N Mishra said.
Speaking at the two-day 18th Inter-Unit Quality Circle Convention 2007, which concluded here yesterday, Mr Mishra said the proposed expansion would be over in two years.
The ongoing first phase of expansion, at a cost of Rs 200 crore would be over by the end of the year. Seven hundred skilled workers were recruited over the past one-and-a-half years, he added.
Along with quality and competitive costs, it was timely delivery and commissioning of projects that would give the extra edge to the company, he added.
General Manager (Corporate Quality) A V Krishnan said the BHEL would complete execution of its strategic plan to enlarge the scope of Quality Circles through aligning the concepts of Total Quality Management and Business Excellence from the basics at Shop Floor and meet target by cutting down delivery cycles to become a world class company by 2012.
