Maharashtra: Two held in Ojhar robbery case
Nashik, Sep 7: Nashik Rural police have arrested two persons from Zayda village in Zabua district of Madhya Pradesh in connection with a robbery at a jeweller's shop in Ojhar, near here, on July 13.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Nashik Rural police and Ojhar police arrested Ramesh Sakriya Vasuniya and Titu Manga Vasuniya, on August 28, from Zayda village in Zabua district of Madhya Pradesh for their alleged involvement in robbery at Priya Jewellers in Ojhar on July 13, Superintendent of Police (Nashik Rural) Nikhil Gupta told reporters here today.
During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and gave information about more persons involved in the robbery. The police team again went to Zabua and arrested one Rohit Soni, a jeweller, who had bought the loot of the robbery from the robbers. Police seized from him 521 gm of jewellery. The search for 18 more persons involved in the robbery is on, the SP said.
On July 13, a gang of dacoits had looted Priya Jewellers, owned by one Nimba Chinda Jadhav, and had looted jewellery and cash worth Rs 20 lakh. The robbers had also fired in the air during the robbery.
Jadhav was injured in the robbery.
The police had launched an intense search operation in search of the robbers. Teams had been sent to various neighbouring states to look for the robbers. These arrests are the major step in solving the case, Mr Gupta added.
