Singapore Sep 7 (UNI) A Singapore High Court accepted Feng Shui as a plea to release a couple from a property tax charge raised by the country's tax man.

Justice Judith Prakash yesterday accepted the contention that a 1993 property sale should not be subject to the profit tax.

The unnamed couple contended in an appeal against a previous court's decision that they were compelled to sell their property, an apartment in the city state, because of its bad Feng Shui.

A Feng Shui master had advised the couple that their apartment was bad for their career and the health of their unborn child.

Justice Prakash delivered the judgement, accepting that the couple believed in Feng Shui and they left that apartment so as to buy another house.

However, the couple is facing taxes on the sale of other properties, The Straits Times reported today. They had reportedly bought eight properties and sold seven between June 1988 and March 1996, making a profit of Singapore one million dollars, which was subject to a tax of 250,000 dollars, according to the Singapore daily.
