Rupee opens firm 40.74/75 per dollar

Mumbai, Sep 7: Backed by strong inflows of U S Dollars in Indian equities, Rupee today made a firm start at Rs 40.74/75 per U S Dollar, showing a gain of another six paise from the previous close (40.80/81) on the Interbank Foreign Exchange (FOREX) market this morning.

The local currency opened firm at 40.74/75 per USD and quoted further high of 40.69 per USD during the course of trading in the morning trade, before currently quoting at 40/71/72 per USD, dealers said.

There has been continous inflow of foreign investment in the indian equities, which influenced the trend in the forex market, dealers said.
