Putin appoints Melamed as director,Russian Nanotechnology Corp

Moscow, Sep 7 (UNI) Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Alemar Capital Corporation Chairman Leonid Melamed as the director of a newly-created Russian State Nanotechnology Corporation.

This was announced by the first Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov at the government's board meeting of nanotechnology.

Mr Putin signed the act on Russian Nanotechnology Corporation recently after Russia's State Duma (lower house) passed the bill on July 4 and the Federation Council (upper house) approved it on July 6.

The Corporation is expected to implement the government's policy in the field of research and innovation, assist in transferring economy to the route of innovation and carrying out the projects of creating promising nanotechnologies and nano-industry.

The assets of the Corporation are being established by the property contribution of the Russian Federation, funds appropriated from the federal budget, revenues generated from its business, voluntary contributions and by other legal receipts.

The Corporation will carry out investment and foreign economic activities related to nanotechnology projects in Russia and abroad, including the interest of foreign capital.
