Prince Paras's condition stable
Kathmandu, Sep 7 (UNI) The condition of Prince Paras of Nepal, who suffered a heart attack yesterday, is stable after doctors at the Norvic Hospital in Thapathali performed emergency angioplasty and stenting to clear the artery.
Following the medical procedures, the blockage was successfully opened and Paras' condition became stable. He will have to stay in the hospital for at least five days including two days in the ICU, the hospital said in a statement.
Blockage of coronary artery results from accumulation of fat in the body and high levels of cholesterol and clotting in the blood.
These generally result from unhealthy lifestyle, a local newspaper quoted a doctor at the hospital as saying.
"Smoking, stress, sedentary lifestyle, obesity and uncontrolled blood pressure result in such complications," the doctor said.
Suspended King Gyanendra, his family members and relatives had visited the hospital yesterday. The incident has occured on the second day of the Nepali Congress' decision to go for republic during the Constituent Assembly polls slated for November 22.
