MCC, municipal polls on Oct 10

Mangalore, Sep 7 (UNI) Elections to Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), four town municipalities of Ullal, Moodabidre, Bantwal and Puttur and Belthangady and Sullya panchayats in Daxina Kannada district will be held on October 10.

Addressing a press conference here today, Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao said September 17 would be the last date for filing nominations, while September 20 would be the last date for withdrawal.

A total of 4,59,556 voters, including 2,26,322 men and 2,33,234 women, were part of the electorate.

In the 60 wards of the MCC, 43 booths were identified as sensitive and 65 as hyper sensitive, of the total 394 booths. In Ullal, with 27 wards, seven booths were declared hyper sensitive, he said.

Fourteen booths out of 27 were identified as sensitive in Moodabidre. In Bantwal, with 23 wards, 12 booths were identified as sensitive and 11 as hyper sensitive, of the total 31 booths, he added.
