HP bags first position in implementation of 20-pt programme

Shimla, Sep 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh has bagged first position in the implementation of 20-point programme for the year 2006-07, after it achieved more than 100 per cent targets in various components of the programme, an official spokesman today said.

In drinking water supply scheme, the implementation was 109 per cent with 3,275 villages or habitations being provided drinking water facility against a target of 3,000, he said in a release here.

Similarly, 1,27,322 infants were immunised as against a target of 1,27,000 infants, the spokesman said.

He said 8,819 ST families were provided assistence against a target of 5,000, adding that 2,639 people living in slum areas were provided with basic amenities against a target of 2,500.

The state government was also encouraging private landholders to plant more trees on their land and for the twenty-point programme 50 lakh saplings have been distributed, he said.

The spokesman said 29 villages in the state were electrified against a target of 20.

To bring more areas under irrigation, 1,400 pumpsets have been energised for irrigation purpose against a target of 650, besides 162 bio-gas plants had been installed against a target of 150, he said.
