HC expresses concern over encroachments on highways
Allahabad, Sep 7 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has expressed concern over the rising cases of encroachment on the national and state highways.
A Division Bench comprising Justices V M Sahai and Rakesh Sharma dismissed a writ petition filed by Gulab Sonkar, econstruction of his shop encroaching the Grand Trunk (GT) road that passed through the Allahabad city.
''Uttar Pradesh is the second largest state in the country having poor roads. It appears no action is being taken by the concerned PWD authorities, Nagar Palikas, Nagar Nigams and the Regional National Highways authority to keep the highways encroachment - free,'' the HC said.
