Former Skoda chief to head VW global sales-source
FRANKFURT, Sep 6 (Reuters) Former Skoda chief Detlef Wittig will temporarily head global sales and marketing at car maker Volkswagen , a person familiar with the matter told Reuters yesterday.
A company spokesman declined to comment but said Wittig, who retired as Skoda's chief in July, was serving at VW as an adviser on the group's sales.
German Daily Wolfsburger allgemeine Zeitung reported in a story to be published today that Wittig was designated to stay in the position until at least the end of the year.
Wittig would replace Stefan Jacoby, who has been appointed head of US operations.
VW bought Skoda in 1991 and turned it into the biggest success story of the post-Communist restructuring of Czech industry.
