BMC seizes sonography machines from clinics

Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation health officials have seized 25 sonography machines from various clinics in the city in raids conducted over the last few days.

Speaking to reporters today, Health Officer Jairaj Thanekar said, ''The Corporation has collected over Rs 4 lakh in fine from the clinics after twelve of these machines were released with a warning.'' The BMC had received complaints that many clinics were using the sonography machines for sex determination tests, Mr Thanekar said.
