BJP spokesperson meets Jaya

Chennai, Sep 7 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, MP, today called on AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa and discussed the present political situation.

Mr Prasad who arrived here to address a meeting on 'Dangers of Terrorism', organised by the party state unit, called on Ms Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence here this evening.

This was the first time a senior BJP leader was meeting the AIADMK leader after the two parties severed ties after the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting assumed significance in the backdrop of reports that the AIADMK was giving moral support to the BJP in its fight against the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.

When contacted, party sources described the meeting as a courtesy call.
