BJP MLA's anticipatory bail rejected
Gandhinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) A local court today rejected the anticipatory bail application of BJP MLA Dilip Patel, who is accused of beating a man and keeping him in confinement.
District sessions judge of Gandhinagar B N Karia, who received the bail application on the order of Gujarat High Court rejected the application.
One Mithilesh Amin, complained to the police in 2003 that the BJP MLA had beaten him and kept in confinement over some disputes.
However, the police had not taken any action against the MLA. He also alleged that the police is not carrying out proper investigations against the MLA even when his complaint was registered four years ago.
Amin moved to Gujarat High Court last month, which had directed the lower court of Anand to hear the complainant. BJP MLA immediately approached the Anand sessions court for anticipatory bail fearing his arrest in the case after the High Court order.
The sessions court of Anand granted him interim relief on August 16 ordering that he should not be arrested till August 21.
After the MLA got interim relief from the lower court, the petitioner, Amin again approached the High Court seeking transfer of the case from Anand court.
The Gujarat High Court judge M R Shah ordered the transfer of the hearing on the anticipatory bail to a local court in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.
According to sources, Patel had gone underground fearing his arrest and the police was unable to trace him.
