USAID mission director for polio eradication in Lucknow

Lucknow, Sep 6 (UNI) United States Agency for International Development (USAID) mission director George Deikun today attended a polio immunization session here today.

Several children were vaccinated against the debilitating disease in the city.

The majority of USAID assistance for polio eradication is focussed in Uttar Pradesh, while it provides Rs 22.9 crore annually to UNICEF, the World Health Organisation and other non-governmental organisations.

Almost seven polio immunization rounds have been completed in UP, while the eighth is scheduled for September 9, with Sub-national Immunization Day event for all 70 districts in UP.
