UP evolves mechanism to make LAD fund utilisation more transparent
Lucknow, Sep 6 (UNI) In an attempt to make utilisation of Legislature Local Area Development Fund more transparent and accountable, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to introduce a new mechanism of physical verification of works done under the scheme.
Various district officials including the DMs would inspect the works executed under the scheme up to block levels in an organised calendar to be made out for the purpose.
A decision to this effect was taken at the state cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Mayawati here yesterday, Shailesh Krishna, Principal Secretary to the chief minister told reporters here this evening.
In an another decision, the state cabinet has decided to amend state plan under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS)Act,2005.
As per the amended provisions, there would be a bank account at the district level in the name of District Employment Guarantee Fund, under the NREGS, to be operated by DM and District Programme Co-ordinator jointly. At block level, the Block Development Officer and Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat) would be the joint operators of the account.
The state cabinet has also decided to shift the location of the proposed bio-fertilizer unit from Kannuaj to Lucknow.
Biotech Park, Lucknow, under the control of UP Science and Technology Council has been entrusted with the job of establishing, operating and maintaining the unit.
The unit was to be established at Kannauj but due to non-availability of land, the same was being set up in the state capital.
