Sonia urged to help set up memorial to Ravi Varma

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) "Samskara Sahithi," the art and cultural wing of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, today approached Congress President Sonia Gandhi urging her to use her good offices to set up a Museum-cum-Artists colony at Kilimanoor, the birthplace of legendary artist Raja Ravi Varma.

Sahithi President Palode Ravi personally met Ms Gandhi at her official 10 Janpath residence and requested her to initiate steps to set up the museum and also to erect a life size statue of the artist.

In a memorandum, Mr Ravi pointed out that the museum and colony at Kilimanoor, near Thiruvananthapuram, would be of great help to artists from around the world who come on a pilgrimage to the birth place of Ravi Varma (1848-1906) UNI SH HS VC1916
