Shinde inaugurates NTPC's induction programme

New Delhi, Sept 6 (UNI) Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today inaugurated the 'Induction Programme of National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) Executive Trainees-2007' here.

Mr Shinde called upon the young 'technocrats' to use their talent and energy to take the country forward.

He expressed confidence in the young human resource of the country, which is ready to accept challenges and achieve the goal of making the country a global power.

Earlier, in his keynote address, Secretary (Power) Anil Razdan congratulated the young entrants for choosing power sector which is poised for an unprecedented growth as their career option and for joining NTPC, one of the best organisations in the public sector.

Observing the strength to strength growth of NTPC, he expressed hope that the young team would further strengthen the roots of the organisation.

Mr Shinde also presented the Gold Medal to Amod Kumar Singh and Silver Medal to M Balaji in engineering disciplines and Gold Medal to S K Upadhayay in HR discipline.

A total of 423 executive trainees in engineering were chosen for NTPC, out of 45,423 applicants.

Since the inception of the Executive Trainee Programme in 1977, thirty-one batches of Executive Trainees have been inducted.

So far 6,304 engineer trainees have been inducted whereas the total number of finance and HR trainees inducted are over 400. This comprises more than half the total executive strength of the company.
