Rupee opens at 40.83/85 per dollar

Mumbai, Sep 6: Rupee opened at 40.83/85, with a marginal gain of 11 paise from its yesterday's close of 40.94/95 per dollar and drawing a heavy support on strong inflows to Indian equities.

However, market stood highly cautious ahead of the sensitive US data on Friday, dealers said.

The local unit, which slipped down to 40.95 during the intra-day, recovered later and is currently trading at 40.84/85 per dollar, dealers added.
