Rediff launches site for 'all the young dudes'

Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) All bathroom singers and closet artistes can now get to showcase their talents via a new site launched by rediff here.

In a packed suburban club, rockers rubbed shoulders with desi artists as www.anecho.rediff.com was launched yesterday to promote 'non-commercial' artists and music.

Speaking to the media, Rediff.com vice president (marketing) Manish Agarwal said ''Rediff wishes to provide all budding artistes a platform to showcase their talents without seeking anyone's patronisation.'' The site will allow artistes -- solo or as bands of any genre -- to upload their compositions and performances which can be viewed by surfers online as well as offline.

The launch was followed by an impromptu acoustic jam, led by Shibani Kashyap, where original compositions were belted out to an appreciative audience.

''I wish the concept had taken off 15 years ago,'' gushed Shibani Kashyap.
