Kolhapur, Sep 6 (UNI) A prohibitory order under section 144(1)(2)(3) has been promulgated in Kagal tehsil of the district for four days, with effect from tomorrow morning.

Executive magistrate of Kagal issued the order today, banning processions, shouting slogans, carrying weapons, burning of effigy, assembly of more than five persons and provocative speech or behaviour at public places that will disturbe the law and order situation.

The order was promulgated in the tehsil in the wake of political controversy developed between two groups -- one led by NCP MP Sadashivrao Mandlik and the other by NCP Minister Hassan Mushrif -- over the election for the posts of chairman and vice-chairman of Kagal Taluka Kharedi-Vikri Sangh. The elections were held yesterday, police sources said.

During the election, the police seized three swords from a vehicle, but none was arrested in this connection, sources added.
