Panchayat Secretary escapes abduction

Morena, MP, Sep 6 (UNI) A panchayat secretary jumped into a 50-foot deep well in a bid to protect himself from being abducted by armed assailants at Kailaras in this district, police said today.

Additional Superintendent of Police R P Singh said Kodera village panchayat secretary Hari Pratap Kushwah was going to the village when he was abducted by four people.

After snatching watch and mobile phone besides cash from him, abductors took Mr Kushwah along with them.

However, the victim managed to escape from their clutches and began running and screaming. On spotting a well nearby, having three-four feet water, he jumped into it.

Later, the villagers reached the spot. On receiving information, police also reached there.

Villagers took Mr Kushwah out of the well. Police have registered a case against unidentified abductors.
