One more person arrested in connection with fake currency

Hyderabad, Sep 6 (UNI) The City police today arrested one more person in connection with the smuggling and circulation of fake Indian currency in Mumbai and brought him here for further interrogation.

City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said the arrested Satish alias Fanni, who was brought here, was involved in circulating fake currency in Mumbai.

Police busted the International racket of smuggling and circulation of fake currency with the arrest of four persons, including a UAE national suspected to be the associates of underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim and recovered currency worth Rs 2.36 crore on August 25.

The entire currency was concealed as scrap paper consignment and shipped to Mumbai from where it was brought in a truck and stored in a house in the city.

Dubai-based Alka Khamis Obaid Khamis in association with Pakistanis planned the entire operation of smuggling and circulation of fake currency. The currency was manufactured in Pakistan and reached India via UAE on sea cargo.

Obaid Khamis had visited Pakistan thrice and confessed that currency was mostly printed at Karachi.

Police were interrogating the accused to extract more information about their activities.
