Mizoram submits Rs 240 cr plan for VRS

Aizawl, Sep 6 (UNI) Mizoram Education Minister Dr R Lalthangliana and DoNER Minister Mani Shankar Ayier have discussed a Rs 240 crore plan for voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for teachers in Mizoram and a few other proposals earlier submitted to the Centre.

The state education minister in the meeting yesterday in New Delhi. appealed to DoNER Minister to approve 90:10 per cent of matching share in the SSA for the economically backward North Eastern states. He also urged the Union Minister to release a fund for Bharat Darshan and Aizawl Darshan programmes proposed by the state's Information&Publicity Department.

During the meeting, the state education minister stressed the need to improve the present railway network in the North East since some states had no railway connection to transport heavy goods to remote places.

He met Union Forest and Environment minister and Director General of Forest and urged them to expedite different proposals which had already been submitted by the Mizoram's Forest department.

These included maintenance fund for wildlife sanctuary and forest development agency. He sought for early release of fund for Dampa Tiger Reserve, Integrated Forest Protection Scheme, Forest Training School, master plan of Mizoram and Aizawl Zoological Park.
