Maharashtra Government prepares programmes for Gur-ta-Gaddi
New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Government has planned a number of projects and programmes at a total cost of Rs 817 crore to commemorate tercentenary of Gur-ta-Gaddi at Nanded, Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply today.
She said the projects were being funded mainly under the Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission programmes of the Urban Development Ministry. Contributions were also being made by Nanded Waghala City Municipal Corporation and Maharashtra Government.
The important programmes include development of city nfrastructure, Gurdwara related developments and event infrastructure developments, the minister said.
Ms Soni said the Government have also constituted a National Committee with Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Chief Minister, Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh as its chairperson and co-chairperson respectively to approve and supervise policies, plans and programmes of the Gur-ta-Gaddi celebrations at Nanded, to be held in 2008.
