Mah Govt to urge Centre for compensation

Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will urge the Centre to provide a compensation package to the victims of 1992-93 Mumbai riots on the lines of a package it had announced to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in New Delhi and to the victims of the post-Godhra riots in Gujarat.

The demand to this effect was made by the chairman of National Commission for Minorities Mohammad Shafi Qureshi in presence of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and others.
