Kaliappan appointed as Anna University, Tirunelveli VC

Chennai, Sep 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today appointed S Kaliappan, Professor and Director, Institute of Remote Sensing (IRS), Anna University, as Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Tirunelveli.

An official release here said Mr Kaliappan would hold the post for a period of three years or till he attained the age of 65 years, whichever was earlier, from the date of his assuming office.

With a first class degree in Civil Engineering and M Tech in Remote Sensing from Anna University, he began his teaching career in April 1989 at Anna University.

Later, he obtained Ph D in Environment Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology, USA, in 1991. He returned from the US with rich academic and industrial experience in 1996 and continued to work on teaching and research at Anna University.
