CR gets new heads for accounts, engineering sections

Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) Mr Samar Jha has taken over as the new Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer, Central Railway, while B D Kumar is the new Principal Chief Engineer.

Fifty Seven-year old Jha, who holds a masters degree in Physics from Jadavpur University, joined the Indian Railways in July 1974 and has held various posts in Central, South Eastern and Northeast Frontier Railways, an official release said today.

He was also a pioneer in computer training in railways while working as a professor in the Railway Staff College, Vadodara. He also worked as Divisional Railway Manager, Raipur, setting up the new division. Prior to joining Central Railway, he was Senior Deputy General Manager, Western Railway.

Mr Jha has been trained in general and strategic management in the UK and was on deputation to Iraq. He has also contributed extensively in newspapers, magazines and journals.

Mr Kumar is a civil engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering. He joined the Indian Railways in 1976 and has held various posts. He has worked in Research, Designs and Standards Organisation and was associated with research work connected with track.

He has also worked as Divisional Railway Manager, Ratlam on Western Railway. Prior to joining Central Railway, he was working as Principal Chief Engineer and Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) with the South East Central Railway at Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Central Railway has won the Best Innovation Award of Indian Railways for design and development of non-standard special diamond crossing of two railway tracks, using run-over concept with flange supported travel. The objective of the design is to improve the speed of trains while crossing the tracks.

This innovation has resulted in faster speeds on the crossings, simple, economical and robust design and lesser maintenance and a net saving of three minutes per crossing.

The whole project was carried under V K Kaul, General Manager of Central Railway, with S K Jain, Principal Chief Engineer heading the team comprising of Paramjeet Singh, Dy Chief Engineer, Divyakant Chandrakar, Chief Workshop Manager, Manmad and U L Salve, Senior Section Engineer, Manmad.
