CPI(M) to spread awareness about nuclear deal
Bhopal, Sep 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh CPI(M) today said four separate 'jathas' (processions) would be taken out here on Saturday as a part of the nation-wide campaign to bring about awareness regarding the Indo-US nuclear deal.
CPI(M)'s state secretary Bahadur Singh Dhakad said the processions would be taken out from Rewa, Gwalior, Jawad and Balaghat.
The 'jathas' would cover a distance of 4,335 km before reaching the state capital on September 14.
He said people would be made aware about ''disadvantages'' of the nuke deal.
Mr Dhakad said the UPA government was formed with an objective of ''preventing'' the BJP-led-NDA from coming to power. However, the UPA had agreed to abide by the Common Minimum Programme, which provides that India would pursue independent foreign policy.
However, the present deal was in ''violation'' of this promise.
