Chinese ship caught in Arabian sea tilts on the seaside
Mangalore, Sep 6 (UNI) The Chinese merchant ship carrying iron ore that capcized near the New Mangalore Port, had tilted 12 degrees on the seaside but the ship will be salvaged back to the port in 48 hours, CISF Deputy Commandant S S Mishra said here today.
"The ship has tilted towards the sea, but there is no threat of capsizing. We will bring back the ship to the port in one or two days," he said.
According to port officials the ship with 29 crew on board ran aground in the Arabian sea, about seven nautical miles away from New Mangalore Port earlier today.
A top official of Coast Guard told UNI that a helicopter had been summoned from Goa to taking up rescue operations, if needed.
