China marks bigger participation at Gitex than India
Dubai, Sept 6 (UNI) Top Indian IT firms will mark a strong presence at Gitex 2007 but China, however, will dominate the event with 115 companies participating, including Maxin Technology Ltd and Dalian Fujisan Office Equipment Company.
''Gitex, the biggest regional IT show, will be held from September 8 to September 12 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the largest international delegation this time and participants from 82 countries and 28 national pavilions,'' Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) said.
Meanwhile, the retail segment of the show, GITEX Shopper, began at the Airport Expo Dubai today.
Indian IT majors Wipro, Satyam and Larsen and Toubro Infotech (LTI) are also among the participants.
Wipro plans to launch a development centre in Egypt to target regional clientele, which will be located in Smart Village - a 450-acre business park for IT and telecom companies in Cairo.
Wipro will be the second company setting up base in Smart Village, which was created as part of the Egyptian government's strategy to turn the country to a hub for IT and telecom services.
Satyam has also announced plans to start operation from Cairo, both trying to cash in on the oil-boom driven economic growth in the GCC.
LTI will offer an open house consultative service during the Gitex, according to the company which is one of India's fastest growing IT companies.
LTI had recently announced plans to open regional office in Dubai with a target of 100 million dollars in business within three years.
The show, which is in its 27th edition this year, will have 3,300 companies participating in total, with over 572 of these participating for the first time.
The show, which has been rebranded this year as Gitex Technology Week, consists of three elements: Gitex Business Solutions, GulfComms, and Consumer Electronics.
