Bypoll to Rajya Sabha seat from UP on October 4

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) Byelection to the Rajya Sabha seat for Uttar Pradesh vacated by state Chief Minister Mayawati will be held on October 4.

A notification for holding the poll will be issued by the Election Commission on September 17.

The last date for filing nominations is September 24, and for withdrawal September 27. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on September 25.

Counting of votes will take place on October 4 itself. The process of election will be held before October six.

The vacancy had occurred when Ms Mayawati resigned from her seat on July 5 after taking over as Chief Minister. Her term in the Rajya Sabha was to end on July 2010.
