AP Governor arrives on two-day visit to temple town

Tirupati, Sep 6(UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari arrived here today on a two-day visit to participate in various programmes and offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala temple and Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanoor near here.

The Governor, who arrived by air at Renigunta Airport at 1645 hrs was received by the Minister for Law and Courts, Technical Education and Industrial Training Institutes, R Chenga Reddy, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Chairman B Karunaka Reddy, TTD Executive Officer K V Ramanachary, District Collector S S Rawat and District Superintendent of Police Sasidhar Reddy, among others.

Mr Tiwari left for Tirupati by car, where he laid foundation stone for the construction of the Engineering College hostel of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visva Vidayalayam(SPMVV) for Women at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore to provide accommodation to 300 students.

The Governor is visiting Tirumala for the first time after assuming the gubernatorial assignment and would offer worship to Lord Balaji in the evening.

Tomorrow, before leaving for Hyderbad by air, Mr Tiwari, as Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University, would participate in the 49th Convocation function and present certificates to eminent personalities at the University grounds in Tirupati, after offering worship to Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanoor in the morning.
